Even in the darkest depths, life finds a way! During a recent ROV dive with @uruguaysub200, the team on R/V Falkor (too) located the destroyer ROU-01 Uruguay shipwreck, bustling with deep-sea life at 1,160 meters. The ship, formerly the USS Baron, was a Cannon-class destroyer escort for the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. In 1952, the US gave the ship to the Uruguayan Navy, where it served in joint exercises with the U.S. and other South American navies until it was decommissioned in 1980.
