Microsoft Announces Power Cord Replacement for Xbox states that a MS would provide power cord replacement for all US systems built before 23 October 2003 and EU system before 13 January 2004. The problem is with the internal power supply unit's (PSU) A/C connector.

Back in the day Microsoft had a free power cord replacement program if you owned an original Xbox. The new power cord had a surge protector where as the old one was just a basic power cable. They simply mailed them to people, I had one.

You can use pretty much any 2 prong power cord. All of my Xboxes use some random power cord I found and it works fine.

Then I found out that the power cord for my previous Xbox original doesn’t fit in this original Xbox which is odd. This Xbox original I have uses a two circle power adapter.

Jun 13, 2021 · That was the Xbox 360 not the original Xbox with Red Ring of Death (RRoD). The original Xbox with FoxLink power supplies (PSU) had/has a design flaw. Poor strain relief of the AC power connector. After many insertion/removal cycles of the power cord, the solder joints on the PSUs PCB cracked which lead to sparking.

Aug 7, 2021 · Eh it's just a standard figure 8 cable so might as well play it safe and use a new one instead. The Xbox One S, X, Series consoles, PS4, and PS5 all use the exact same power cable so if you have one or more of those systems, you can reuse the cable from there.

I'm getting a Duke and Xedussa, but I don't know which power cord to get. I know earlier model orignal Xbox consoles have issues with electronics when used with certain power cords.

Nov 24, 2022 · The power cord with the box is basically a gfci iirc and it'll be set to trip over a certain power draw so you only want to use it on og xboxs. The cables used are standard figure 8, it won't be the cable.
