Aug 11, 2024 · Seven candidates will compete in the election for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 144th IOC Session held from 18 to 21 March 2025 in Greece. The candidates presented their programmes, in camera, to the full IOC membership on the occasion of a meeting held in Lausanne (Switzerland) on 30 January 2025.

The mission of the IOC is to promote Olympism throughout the world, to lead the Olympic Movement and to ensure the regular celebration of the Olympic Games.

5. The term of office of the new IOC President will start on 24 June 2025, allowing the newly elected IOC President to leave any previous office or position, and in order to facilitate a smooth transition between the current IOC President and the newly elected IOC President.
