Glorfindel held long enough for Arwen to arrive with Rivendell Lances and Loreian Archers, along with the Eagles, to reinforce their lines. By increasing their numbers, Glorfindel and the elves turn their eyes unto the Goblin camp.

By all mean Glorfindel is my favourite character in Tolkien's legendarium, only after ONE and only one other: Fingolfin. Yes Glorfindel killed a Balrog, but Fongolfin literally one-v-oned Morgoth, the most powerful of the Gods, very nearly defeating him.

May 1, 2024 · Supposedly Glorfindel. However, as pointed out by u/Bennerone Jarl Benzon is credited as playing Glorfindel (different actor from the one seen here). The actor next to Elrond is Sandro Kopp and he's credited for playing several roles including "Elven Warrior" and "Gildor" who got cut out of the early parts of the movie.

Glorfindel presence in the fellowship would draw attention from the unseen, where (for being simple) elves would emmit a light, and Glorfindel, being who he was, a light even brighter than normal, thus nor only Sauron but the Nazgul, which are already 99% in the unseen, would easely find the fellowship.

Glorfindel is a high lord of the Noldor, presumably raised in the Bliss of Valinor with the light of the Trees in his eyes, slain and sent back to Middle Earth for whatever reason. The Witch King retreated because Glorfindel was unlikely to be overcome by fear.

Aug 18, 2023 · I mean, Glorfindel basically drew on a duel with a Balrog during the elven retreat from Gondolin, if I remember correctly. While Aragorn was more or less dismissed by Gandalf when they met Durin's Bane in Moria. At the Ford of Bruinen is another instance where Tolkien pretty explicitly says that the Nazgul were legit scared of Glorfindel.
