Replaced the original plastic seats with 2"x2" aluminum angle with 2"x12" painted wood, mounted a standard boat seat to the rear, with 'flagpole holders' and outriggers made of PVC pipe and crab-trap floats.

Feb 23, 2019 · I absolutely love my sportspal s13 for a lightweight, easy to launch option vs. my fishing boat that requires a trailer and deeper water to launch. I have used it for fishing small lakes, hunting and floating rivers salmon fishing here in Michigan. I don't duck hunt these days but it would be great for that as well.

Sep 1, 2024 · It's a chaotic mess. It doesn't have all the places for fishing gear like a fishing kayak or the deck area of a bass boat, so my rods get tangled. Being 68, I only have so much energy and all the energy to propel my boat comes from me. So, at the end of a fishing session, I'm twice tired, from fishing and paddling. It's slow.

May 29, 2010 · My canoe (which only weighs 34lbs empty, probably about 275-300 lbs fully-rigged and with me in it) really moves out with the 45lb motor. Digital TMs are a bit spendy but will provide considerably more run-time than the 5-speeds.

Feb 19, 2009 · Fishing from a canoe is different, but you can adapt with practice. I fish almost entirely from a canoe. You can practice casting from a low sitting position to get the feel. The best thing I like about a canoe is the ability to portage it just about anywhere. Most lakes I fish require a portage of 0.25-2 miles and the lakes are 2 to 142 acres.
