U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who was appointed during President Donald Trump's first term, recently announced plans to step down. DeJoy wrote a resignation letter to the USPS's Board of Governors on Feb. 17 outlining his service through a global pandemic and inflation.

The postmaster general asked the U.S. Postal Service board to find a successor after a turbulent five-year tenure.

Then the Washington Post reported Thursday that President Donald Trump is expected to fire the entire USPS Board of Governors and move the USPS to the purview of the Commerce Department.
