Sony will no longer force Steam users to create a PlayStation Network account to play some of its popular PlayStation PC ports. But if you do choose to login to PSN you’ll soon receive in-game rewards in titles like God of War: Ragnarok.

PC players will soon no longer require a PlayStation Network account to play Sony’s first-party games, but having one will now also unlock in-game extras. With the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC on January 30, having a PSN account to play the game will be optional.

A new update has made PlayStation Network requirements on PC optional, with Sony giving players new incentives to sign in.

Sony have announced their their PC game releases will no longer force a PlayStation Network requirement. Instead it will be optional and give you certain in-game rewards.

A PlayStation account will "become optional" for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Sony hasn't lost hope that players will still go ahead and use a PlayStation account, though, as it's tying several benefits to signing in.
