Merging Jeffersonville and Utica fire services into a new fire territory would mean creating jobs and long-awaited fire protection, but at the cost of taxpayers.

"We didn't have anything prepared so all of the children had to come home and I had to adjust as needed," said Candice Holt, a mother of seven students.
