In the third major aviation incident of the week, Air Canada Flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines, was forced to make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) on Saturday night due to a malfunctioning landing gear.

A small plane made an emergency landing at the decommissioned naval air station in Alameda Friday morning due to an engine issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Air Canada flight 2259 made an emergency landing in Halifax after a landing gear malfunction caused a wing fire. All passengers evacuated safely.

Due to the incident, the Halifax airport was temporarily closed Saturday night. A passenger told CBC News that one of the plane's tyres did not deploy properly upon landing.

The viral footage from the incident shows the aircraft's wings striking the runway, leading to a fire during the landing.
