IIDA, Nagano Prefecture—Hideo Shimizu has been frustrated by the reluctance of a peace memorial museum here to display panels about the infamous Unit 731, where he worked during World War II.

The museum has refused to display testimony from local Unit 731 members, including Shimizu, saying it was too lengthy, and in some cases, too graphic for children.

It was the building that Shimizu would see in the museum picture in 2015. Shimizu, who was 14 years old at the time, and 34 boys of similar age made up the fourth group of minors assigned to Unit 731.
