GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Mackinac Bridge closed to some vehicles Monday morning due to high winds, but has sense reopened to all vehicles. Monday morning, only passenger cars, passenger vans and empty pickup trucks are allowed on the bridge, the Mackinac Bridge Authority said. Wind speeds in the Straits area reached 64 mph.

Northern Michigan experienced powerful winds on the evening of Feb. 6, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph in some areas.

Winds of over 50 mph Monday resulted in a partial closure of the Mackinac Bridge, the bridge authority reported.
