ESPN's Kendrick Perkins weighed in on Curry making the All-Star Game for the 11th time in his career. Curry was once again named a starter for the Western Conference, and has not missed an All-Star Game since the 2019–20 season in which he played just five games before missing the rest of the campaign to injury.
Among those to make the cut are first-timer Victor Wembanyama and 21st-timer LeBron James. Six teams had multiple selections, while only two teams above .500 — the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings — had none. The game is once again stacked with recognizable talent, but there were plenty more players beyond the 24 players selected.
The league is as rich with talent as it has ever been. Someone was bound to get snubbed. But one stands out above the rest.
Irving has averaged 24.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season. The veteran has had to play the last month-plus without co-star Luka Doncic, keeping the Mavericks alive in the West standings.
This is the first year where the 24 All-Stars will be divided into three teams, selected by general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny Smith. Each team will compete in a mini-tournament, with one winner crowned after three games.
