Ubisoft's reported buyout talks with Tencent are apparently on hold, as both are trying to use Assassin's Creed Shadows as a bargaining tool.

From its founding in 1986, French video game maker Ubisoft has grown into a giant of the sector with operations in 20 countries and an uber popular franchise, "Assassin's Creed".

Ubisoft said Thursday it would take decisive steps to reshape itself as the French video game publisher announced it would delay the release of the latest title in its top "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

Ubisoft has said it is delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows again, as the company explores sale options. The highly-anticipated next Assassin's Creed game will now launch on 20th March. Previously the game was set to arrive on 14th February, after its initial delay from November 2024.

France's largest video game maker Ubisoft has decided to postpone the release of the newest game in its blockbuster franchise Assassin’s Creed again, putting off the launch to March 20 from Feb. 14, the company said on Thursday.

The release date for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has once again been pushed back at Ubisoft. Shifting from Feb. 14 to March 20, the delay “will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive ‘Assassin’s Creed’ community.
