Mamata Banerjee will visit Sandeshkhali on December 30 for a public distribution program, her first since a sexual harassment controversy. The area has faced protests over land-grabbing and harassment by TMC leaders.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to visit Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district on Monday, marking her first trip to the riverine island in the Sundarbans since the sexual harassment controversy involving the ruling party surfaced.

The Mamata government has maintained its stance on the DA of state government employees. The Mamata government had increased DA by 4 percent. Last year, the Chief Minister announced the DA during the Christmas program.
