NAIROBI (Reuters) -Kenyan police opened fire on a crowd of advancing protesters in Nairobi on Monday, a Reuters reporter said, as scattered demonstrations broke out across the country to mark the 35th anniversary of pro-democracy rallies.

Police were blocking major roads leading into Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, ahead of planned anti-government protests.

Two people have reportedly died of gunshot wounds after police opened fire during protests in Kenya, the latest in a wave of anti-government rallies that began last year.
