ODESSA, Texas ( KBTX /Gray News) - A police department in Texas announced on Saturday that one of its law enforcement officers is missing. According to the Odessa Police Department, Officer Bailey Martin and some of his family members took a trip to the Guadalupe River near Kerrville for the Fourth of July holiday when the area flooded.

A July Fourth weekend deluge in Texas caused catastrophic flash flooding that has killed at least 89 people. Camp Mystic in Kerr County says Monday morning that it is “grieving the loss” of 27 campers and counselors as the search continues for victims of the disaster.

Rescuers searched the Guadalupe River for survivors of the Texas flash floods that killed more than 100 people over the July Fourth holiday weekend, with an unknown number of people still missing. The basin area was crowded with families and campers preparing to enjoy the holiday when pounding rain brought about catastrophic flash floods just before dawn Friday.
