A man was shot and killed by Chicago police early Friday morning after allegedly advancing toward officers with a knife in the Little Village neighborhood.

A man who advanced toward officers holding an overnight was fatally wounded overnight at an apartment building in the Little Village neighborhood, Chicago police said. About 2:10 a.m. Friday, officers were alerted about a man with a knife inside a sixth-floor apartment in the 3000 block of West 21st Place.

Timothy Glaze, 57, was fatally shot Friday, officials said, after his girlfriend called 911 to report she was being attacked by him, according to a recording of police dispatch audio.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating after a man armed with a knife was shot and killed by Chicago police on the city's West Side.
