Eleven adult men have escaped from a New Orleans jail and all should be considered armed and dangerous, officials with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office warned.

A manhunt was underway in Louisiana on Friday after 11 men escaped a New Orleans jail. One of the inmates was captured by police. The 10 still on the run are considered to be “armed and dangerous,” according to authorities.

On Friday morning, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office sounded the alarm after 11 inmates were discovered to missing during a routine headcount conducted at 8:30 a.m. at the Orleans Parish Jail. It is believed that the inmates escaped at some point after midnight.
