AUSTIN (KXAN) — Officers and emergency staff across Central Texas said they’ve been responding to dozens of crashes since early Tuesday morning. As snow and ice accumulated on roads, ice thickened and created slick and dangerous conditions.

During this week's cold snap and winter storm, animal protection agencies in our area have been working non-stop to keep pets safe. Sadly, they've gotten many calls about people leaving their animals out in the elements.

Businesses, organizations and government entities across Central Texas are making operational changes due to the arctic blast hitting the region.

If it warms up enough during the day Tuesday, it’s possible for some of that accumulated snow and ice to melt, but snow or ice that sticks around Tuesday will refreeze Wednesday night, when temperatures are expected to plunge into the 20s or teens, Platt said.

AUSTIN, Texas — A nationwide phone outage impacted businesses across the Austin area. RingCentral, a California cloud-based communications platform that provides companies with phone and messaging tools, confirmed the outage Wednesday afternoon.

Light snow and sleet began falling in Central Texas Monday evening, creating scenes of a winter wonderland in and around Austin.
