Miami Heat star Tyler Herro shared his memories of joining the team and how it feels now to be recognized as an NBA All-Star for the first time. Miami Heat had high hopes that Tyler Herro’s standout season would earn him a spot in the 2024-2025 NBA All-Star Game.

Now that he knows he'll be in San Francisco, the sixth-year guard has another plan in mind: the All-Star Weekend 3-point contest.

Herro learned Thursday night that he will represent the Heat as an Eastern Conference reserve in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, which will take place on Feb. 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco. It marks the first time that Herro has been selected for the All-Star Game in his six NBA seasons.

Herro was tuned in to TNT's Inside The NBA as the All-Star Game reserves were announced, clearly nervous to hear the results. The second that Ernie Johnson said that the final Eastern Conference selection would come from the Miami Heat, however, Herro immediately burst into celebration.

Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez is participating in NBA All-Star Weekend for a second straight year. On Tuesday, the league awarded him a roster spot for the Rising Stars Challenge. Last year he competed in the game that showcases the top rookies and second-year players.

On Thursday, Herro was announced as a selection for the NBA All-Star Game. This season, NBA All-Star Weekend is taking place in Chicago, with the game scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16. As of Thursday, Herro was averaging 24.1 points on 47.4% shooting to go with 5.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists, all career highs.

Among those Herro beat out were the Hawks’ Trae Young, Hornets’ LaMelo Ball, Bulls’ Zach LaVine and 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey.
