More than 260 Rohingya refugees, including women and children, arrived in Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh after floating at sea for days, an official said on Monday. The mostly Muslim ethnic Rohingya are heavily persecuted in Myanmar and thousands risk their lives each year on long and dangerous sea journeys to reach Malaysia or Indonesia.

Over 260 Rohingya refugees, including women and children, have arrived in Indonesia's easternmost province of Aceh, local media reported on Monday. Some 264 Rohingya refugees in two boats which were stranded in the sea, arrived in East Aceh, according to Aceh Online.

Heavy rains and floods remain the biggest threats for Indonesia in 2025 due to the impact of the La Niña phenomenon, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

Over 200 Rohingya refugees have arrived in Indonesia's Aceh province, seeking refuge from dire conditions in Myanmar and overcrowded camps in Bangladesh. The UNHCR is working with local authorities to provide assistance.
