EDT the National Weather Service released an updated tornado watch in effect until 3 a.m. EDT for Arenac and Iosco counties.

The twister touched down in Atlantic County with winds of 65 to 75 mph. Storms ripped down trees and flooded roads.

The National Weather Service confirms that three touched down in Genesee, Livingston and Saginaw counties after overnight severe storms on Thursday.

The storms Friday afternoon tore roofs off buildings, ripped bricks off of siding, and downed trees and power lines as residents were urged to take cover.

Cities such as Chicago, Minneapolis and Milwaukee are at risk for a severe weather outbreak, forecasters said.

The Midwest was hit with power outages and infrastructure damage after severe storms swept through the region. Other parts of the U.S., from Texas to New Jersey, could also see thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong wind gusts on Friday.

An EF-2 tornado touched down in New Richmond, Wisconsin, during Thursday evening's severe storms, the National Weather Service says. There were more than a dozen tornado warnings and multiple observed tornadoes across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
