A tragic stampede occurred early Wednesday at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj ahead of the 'Amrit Snan' on 'Mauni Amavasya'. Thousands of pilgrims gathered for the holy bath, causing chaos and leading to several injuries and casualties.

A large number of devotees from Maharashtra, especially Pune, have headed to the Sangam in Prayagraj to take a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh on the occasion of ‘Mauni Amavasya’.

A stampede took place at the Triveni Sangam in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj as scores of people turned up for a holy dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on Wednesday morning. A score of ambulances rushed to the ghat and injured persons were taken to the central hospital inside the Mela ground for treatment.
