PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates don't have one of their everyday starters in the lineup vs. the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Oneil Cruz is not in the lineup, as Jack Suwinski takes over in center field and bats sixth in the lineup for the Pirates.
Sunday, 1:10 p.m.: RHP Mitch Keller (3-10, 3.58 ERA) vs. RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (5-4, 4.08)
The Minnesota Twins jumped out to an early lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates thanks to a big swing from Kody Clemens, followed by a bat flip.
The Twins’ starter needed 34 pitches to get back to the dugout. He joked that 34 pitches is fine for the first three innings, but a bit much for the first inning alone.
The fans who came for the Byron Buxton bobblehead also were treated to the first cycle in Target Field history.
The losing streak has now reached a season-high eight games after getting blown out 12-4 by the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon at Target Field.
