The new logo might be a subtle change from the previous logo at La Quinta Country Club, still using a roadrunner but having the bird coming out of a giant “Q”. The idea is to give the country club a separation from logos for the city of La Quinta or the nearby La Quinta Resort.

This week’s American Express at La Quinta Country Club features an $8.8 million purse but attracts another relatively weaker field. Scottie Scheffler is still recovering from a hand injury over the holidays while Xander Schauffele withdrew for unspecified medical reasons, according to the Associated Press.

La Quinta Country Club, the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, and the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West will be used across the first three days of the tournament. There will be a cut after 54 holes instead of the usual 36-hole cut and then the final round will be played at the Stadium Course.
