A federal appellate court has agreed with opponents of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that it is illegal, but in its ruling limited the focus of an injunction to the state of Texas.

A U.S. appeals court on Friday ruled against outgoing Democratic President Joe Biden's effort to protect immigrants illegally brought to the U.S. as children, siding with Texas just days before Republican President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

But the judges stayed their ruling and for now, hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients will continue to have protection from deportation.
