Sometime after New Years, anglers begin flocking to Chaumont to chase pickerel, pike, walleye, and perch, but the bay is famous in ice fishing circles for its massive walleye.

Professional guide Louis J. Pagnotti IV, owner of Chaumont Masters, said Chaumont Bay is almost completely ice free as anglers begin to transition from walleye season to trout season.
