Merced Irrigation District's Parks and Recreation is now offering virtual tours, allowing visitors to get a peek at campgrounds and campsites at Lake McClure and Lake McSwain before booking them.

The 25th annual Annual Lake McSwain Trout Derby will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Spots are available at Lake McSwain and Lake McClure.

Speedboats and professional wakeboarders will descend on Lake McSwain for a day of racing, exhibitions and family fun at Fall Fest 2014.

During the event, no other boats will be allowed on Lake McSwain. Fishing will be limited to areas east of the A Loop campground and heading upstream.

Field Day events will be held at the overflow camping area of McSwain Lake Recreational facility. Ham radio operators provide communications during disasters such as wildfires and winter storms.

Officials hope this will help loyal visitors learn about new locations to stay at while also making the reservation process more manageable.
