As of Friday, the Custer State Park Resort facilities and restaurants are open. The Park Visitor Center, the Game Lodge Campground and Grace Coolidge Campground are also open and available to use.

One century ago, former South Dakota Governor Peter Norbeck wanted a place where the Game Commission could stay in Custer State Park that would match the natural beauty of the area.

Game Lodge Campground: 59 centrally-located campsites near a stream with a swimming beach and playground. Some sites have electricity and great amenities — showers, laundry, and a dump station.

There are increasingly few offers these days to try before you buy, but fortunately for us, the South Dakota State Park System doesn't hold that attitude.
