Rick Tocchet’s return to Philadelphia as the Flyers ’ head coach has been met with anticipation, curiosity, and, most notably, a hope that he is indeed, as General Manager Danny Briere put it, "the long-term solution to our head coaching position."

The Philadelphia Flyers have hired Rick Tocchet, a member of the team's Hall of Fame, as their next head coach.

Rick Tocchet, who spent parts of 11 seasons with the Flyers as a player and is in the team's Hall of Fame, was named the 25th head coach in franchise history.
