On Thursday at 10:52 a.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the NWS Reno NV valid for Friday between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Some areas of the state have seen more than 4 inches of snowfall after a fast-moving storm hit the area producing snow squalls near Des Moines.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation said they are prepared for the snowstorm heading through the state Thursday morning. The Iowa Department of Transportation has around 900 plows that remove snow and ice from the state’s roadways during the winter.
