The actress recalled what it was like working with prosthetics for her role in the body horror film, which also stars Demi Moore.

Qualley stars in the film opposite Demi Moore, who plays an aging film star Elisabeth Sparkle. Sparkle takes the "substance" in order to transform into Sue (Qualley) but there's a catch: the pair must switch back every seven days. If they don't, Sue will begin deteriorating (and, it turns out, so will Sparkle).

"It took me probably, like, a year to recover physically from all of it," she told a podcast about the prosthetics used in the film.

During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Margaret Qualley revealed that the prosthetics she wore in "The Substance" "f--ked up" her skin, saying that it took "a year" for her skin to fully recover from the acne.

During the ceremony, she presented an award with her Substance costar, Demi Moore. Qualley was also nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor, Film, for The Substance, but the trophy went to Zoë Saldaña for her role in Emilia Pérez. A winning night for women supporting women in Hollywood, indeed.
