Max Verstappen 's future with Red Bull has been further complicated by a statement from his father and ex-Formula 1 racer Jos Verstappen. Verstappen, who currently races for Red Bull F1 team, managed to claim his fourth consecutive world championship title in 2024, once again crushing the competition to win the trophy with two races to spare.

MILTON KEYNES, England -- Liam Lawson will partner world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2025, the Formula 1 team said on Thursday. Lawson, a New Zealander, replaces Sergio Perez, who was dropped on Wednesday after months of poor results.

Perez may also have one eye on 2026, with the new Cadillac team already hinting that they will want an experienced F1 racer to sit alongside a young American star when they join the grid. With 281 grand prix starts, 36 podiums and six grand prix victories, Perez certainly fits the bill of being an experienced F1 driver.

Lawson was picked ahead of RB teammate Yuki Tsunoda for the promotion to Red Bull, while F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar takes Lawson’s spot as Tsunoda’s teammate for 2025. The 2025 F1 season starts on 16 March in Australia.
