Winter weather finally arrived in the Portland area, with snow, wind and cold temperatures Thursday morning. Snow, freezing rain, and sleet began falling around 4 a.m. Thursday in Linn and Lane counties, with road cameras showing accumulating snow in some areas and freezing rain in others. That same mass of moisture then pushed northward.

Plans to modernize three Portland High Schools were put on hold in December, but new plans unanimously approved by the Portland public school board Tuesday night could change that. Local businesses are preparing for another busy Valentine’s Day as the National Weather Service anticipates snow,

As of 10:40 a.m., 12 flights had been canceled and another 39 had been delayed at PDX, though the airport shot down any notions that the it was in danger of shutting down Thursday morning.
