David Murrell resigns as Blount County Schools director and will remain in the district as a tenured faculty member.

David Murrell has resigned the position after serving 14 years in leadership jobs and 27 years total with the district.

The Director of Schools for Blount County Schools has resigned. BCS confirmed to 6 News that David C. Murrell resigned as Director of Schools on. According to a statement from Murrell, he will return to a tenured faculty position with the district.

David Murrell had served as assistant school director for Blount County for more than a decade and took on the director job in 2022 after Rob Britt retired.
