It’s been more than 2 months since 43 monkeys escaped from a research facility in South Carolina. On Friday it was announced that the final 4 missing primates were recaptured.

The female rhesus macaques staged an escape from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in South Carolina last year.

In early November, the monkeys escaped from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Facility after a caretaker didn’t secure the doors, police said.

The last of 43 escaped monkeys has returned to the Alpha Genesis research lab in Yemassee, S.C., nearly three months after an attendant accidentally left two doors unsecured.

All 43 research monkeys that escaped a South Carolina facility in November have been safely recaptured, the Yemassee Police Department said in an update Friday.
